Happy New Year, my friends!!! Can you believe it is almost 2015?! What are your resolutions? I only have one: To be as present as I possibly can as we go into our last year living in Madrid… I know this last year will go by far too quickly and it breaks my heart!
I remember Christmas break 1995, January 1. I was 10. My mother was writing a check to buy me my DREAM sweatshirt… Let’s just say it was 90s to the core and covered in horses… We’ll leave it at that. Back to the check writing–PK (Mom) wrote the date in as 1994, rather than the new 1995. She and the shopkeeper chatted for a minute about how it just didn’t seem possible it was 1995 and that 94 had flown by! My 10 year old brain wasn’t really paying attention, I wanted to get my grubby fingers on my new sweatshirt, which was sure to make me the coolest kid in school… However, I’ll never forget them saying to me the day would come when I would stand aghast at the fact a full year had flown by within the blink of an eye… Um, 10 year old Heather knew better. The school year alone lasted an eternity! Crazy ladies! Well, the crazy ladies were right… That day has come. I SWEAR it was yesterday I was trying to get used to writing 2014… I. Don’t. Like. It.
What I do like, though, was this past year… 2014 was just fabulous. I never could have anticipated how busy photography would keep me here in Madrid. It’s been a wild ride and one I am incredibly grateful for. Capturing visible memories for people is kind of the most amazing job in the world (I even don’t mind the hours I spend editing!).
Whether it’s photographing a couple in love… A brand new baby… A family playing in the fall leaves… I just adore what I do and I cannot thank you enough for following along, recommending me to friends, telling me how much you love your images, and giving me the ability to help tell your story, while trusting my creative vision. It’s a bigger honor than I can say… Thank you. Looking forward to capturing more goodness in 2015!
I had so many great photoshoots to choose from, but I thought I’d just put a few collages together for just a taste of some of the many fun sessions I got to photograph this past year…
What were some of your favorite moments in 2014? I’d love to hear some of your most treasured memories from this last year!
Wishing you the very best in 2015… May your new year be filled with love, happiness, and beauty!
