When this magical couple told me they wanted to start their elopement day together, relaxing and snuggling in bed, I instantly asked: May I be there to capture it???

Rather than fire me on the spot, for sounding like a creeper, they loved the idea of having these special moments documented.

Starting an elopement day based on a place of connection is pretty damn special… Whispering back and forth all the reasons you’re ready for this new adventure, the stolen kisses, and the shared joy… It’s all so magical to capture…

These two loves came all the way across the states to elope in Big Sur! It was such a fun day and filled with a lotttta love. They have been together for years and yet, they know their adventure is just beginning.

Choosing an elopement location can be so difficult

Choosing an elopement location can be so difficult when you have millions of amazing options!

If you were to choose Big Sur, I always recommend working with a local photographer or someone who is very familiar with the many different locations along the coast.

Things to consider when eloping in Big Sur…

🌊 The tides! Make sure you hit the beach at the right time to take advantage of the look you want when it comes to the tides.

☀️ The light! Be sure to structure your timeline so the sunniest parts of the day are either in the forest, to take advantage of that dreamy light peeking through.

🌧️ The weather! Keep in mind that the weather can change quickly, so pack a cute jacket, shawl, or small blanket you can toss over your shoulders. A clear poncho is great, if there are small rain showers predicted to keep your clothes dry as you hike towards your locations!
